The COVID-19 pandemic not only challenged the medical and economic domains worldwide but also the academic domain. Even before the pandemic, there was significant growth and adoption of technology in education, but the usage has surged since the pandemic began.
Educational institutions were forced to shift online due to the lockdown, and this transition from an offline model to the technology-based online mode was not a bed of roses. It was initially intimidating and took a while for everyone to get accustomed to, but the circumstances deemed it necessary.
Parents were hesitant about online education, as they had their concerns about the children’s health, but eventually had to comply for a better future for their children and to maintain academic growth.
Online classes were the first step towards this transition. We at Insight International School started the academic session after the lockdown was imposed, and classes soon shifted to online platforms.
Students were given work and assignments via Google Classroom. Exams were also conducted online through Google Forms, which made sure that the students didn’t miss out on any part of their learning process for the year.
Planned webinars, which played a part in familiarizing teachers with different methods while teaching, were incorporated into the schedule.
The school app had a huge role to play in communication between students, parents, and teachers.
Since face-to-face doubt-clearing sessions were not possible, this app proved vital during the situation.
It is clear that this pandemic disrupted the monotonous education system. Time on one hand is a boon, and on the other hand, it is a curse. The use of upgraded technological tools not only helped students but also made it easy for the teachers.
