Blending traditional and modern teaching techniques

Keep learning continuously or perish’ is the guiding principle for the present generation. Education is the need of the hour as it creates a literate society. The face of education has also evolved drastically over the period. Earlier, teachers were the only means to create a bridge between education and learners. However, modern education sees a vast scenario which encourages learners to study and satisfy their curiosity.

In recent years, the different modern teaching methods, introduction of technology and innovative ways of teaching, have brought a revolution in the education sector. New teaching methods focus more on questioning, demonstration, explaining, practicals, collaboration methods, and are more activity-based. This helps learners to actively participate and sharpen knowledge skills.

Most of the schools have adopted the modern teaching methods that help to build a productive understanding. They are learner-centered, activity-based, and interactive in nature.

It is a well-known fact that children love games, either online or playing in the field. Teaching through games is called Gamification. The significance of Gamification is seen in the elementary preschools. The teachers plan projects and games like online quizzes, puzzles, or brain games.

Another interesting method is VAK (Visual Audio Kinesthetic). Through VAK, students grasp fast when they see, hear, or feel instead of reading the material.

However, both traditional teaching and modern teaching methods have their own importance. So, declaring any one best is not possible. Looking at the contemporary scenario, modern teaching methods are best suited. It keeps in touch with the whole world.

Modern teaching methods should consider conventional methods as its base and learners shouldn’t neglect it completely while incorporating the new ones.

In short, the inclusion of modern teaching methods in this time is necessary as it opposes the idea of traditional forms of repetition and memorization. Therefore, it is best to make use of both methods and make teaching-learning complement and supplement each other.
